I was hoping I would be able to afford some type of data acq this year, but it looks like it's not going to happen.
I would like to find some type of lap timer that would work everytime (unlike my hotlap timer) thats not big $$$.
I have an iPhone and have found a couple different mountain bike timers that are GPS based that I might try.
Forget suggesting I have someone time me and radio it to me. Then I'd have to hire friends.
Thanks, Jon

I downloaded the Cantrell Motorsports app, but haven't tried it yet.
I also have Motionx GPSlite that I use when I run and maps pretty good. |

I used an intercomp timer for years. It worked every session. Battery lasted for years (has auto-off). We never put a beacon up - it would run off anyone's that was on the wall.

Jon, Peter S. and I use these. http://www.digatronusa.com/products-cars.shtml Mine is a dual display. I can watch EGT and Lap Times. When racing, it displays the lap count if I choose. Mine saves RPM and EGT as an event for all laps run. Afterwards you can download the data and graph it. Peter's has two EGT displays and MPH. Great little units and you get more than just a lap count. We have found EGT a very reliable way of monitoring the engine on track. I have a beacon, but have not had to set it up the last four years. mark

I've been looking at the Blind Apex (HUD-9x). I works with the AMB track lap system used by SCCA. Don't have one yet but figure if the transducer works so will the display. It is around $300.00 and you don't need to worry about setting up a beam. Anyone heard any pro's or con's?

Keith,
On paper that system looks great (esp the gap feature). But I know people who have sold them because the AMB system at the track is not setup to transmit the data to the display.
Not sure if this has changed, or if your region differs from mine.

Good point. I made the broad assumption of if it was AMB it would pick up and transmit. I'll do some checking to see what tracks are able to transmit in our area.
